Examinations

Whether you worry about examinations or not, I will be there every step of the way. There are two types of examinations to be able to drive on your own: a theory test and the practical test.

What is involved in a driving test?

To become a fully qualified driver, you will have to pass a Theory test and a practical driving test.

The Theory Test

The theory test consists of two parts: Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception.
The multiple-choice test has 50 random questions of which you will need 43 as a minimum to pass.
Hazard Perception test contains 15 video clips where you will be asked to click when you see a hazard. There are a maximum of 5 points per clip and you must score over 44 points to pass.
There will be coaching on the theory test where necessary. There will be a lot of learning material made available to you to help you pass this test. Once you pass the theory test, you will then be able to apply for your practical driving test. You can currently only sit your driving theory test in Derby.

The Practical Test

The practical test usually takes about 40 minutes to complete. 1 manoeuvre will be incorporated into this test with the possibility of an emergency stop as well as 10 minutes of independent driving. You have the choice of 2 test centres, Burton and Derby, which ever is more convenient to you. Whether you thrive on pressure or not, we will make sure you are competent enough to succeed in your practical driving test. I will equip you will all the knowledge and experience you will need to succeed.
